Often I face the following problem: I would find myself in a place, which fascinates me. And then I would say that
this is THE place – here, at this exact moment and forever. There can be no way
some other place is more beautiful… |

caught my attention first. Dyed, red-orange hair and heavily made-up eyes
greeted me as I approached the booth. She said nothing as she scanned my
passport and I was soon out the other side. |

Entering Bulgaria
The train from Bucharest was empty. There were four carriages. My carriage had two other people in it. There was an attendant that seemed bored out of his mind. The train was bound eventually for Istanbul, and it turned out that he was a Turk. |

I remember how fascinated I was the first time when I visited this small town, snuggled in the mountains...Entering it you forget about the vanity and the noise of the big city. You are welcome by a town, where every building is in the style of the Bulgarian national revival. The signs, the names of the streets, the hotels, and the restaurants look as if they are citations of books of the Old Bulgarian literature. |

Bulgaria is rich with tourist sights, many of which are not far from the main roads. You just need to pull over your car, pay the parking fee and you are ready for sightseeing. This is the case with the the Etar Architectural-Ethnographic Complex near the city of Gabrovo. The parking fee here is just 1 leva, there is also a very nice restaurant where you may relax. Really, the Etar is a wonderful place, worth visiting. |

Bulgaria is rich with archaeological finds, which I must say are no inferior to the Pyramids, but these places are still not very popular among general public. I would like to tell you about two of these sites – the ancient Thracian temples at Starosel and Perperikon.
